EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE REDEEMER |
|
MEET THE WORSHIP AND MUSIC COMMITTEE The chairperson of the Worship and Music Committee is a member of the Church Council. It is that person's duty to assist the Pastor so that the services of God's house are conducted regularly and in accordance with the liturgy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It shall promote observance of the festivals of the church year. It shall recruit, train and schedule worship assistants. It shall provide worship materials and encourage devotions in the home. Through the work of the Altar Guild, it shall arrange for the care of paraments, vestments, and other worship furnishings. Our Altar Guild is a separate entity and has functioned as such for many years, never calling on the Worship and Music Committe for assistance. In consultation with the Pastor, the organist and choir director and the choir members, the Worship and Music Committee shall see to the care of the musical instruments (organ and pianos), the musical programs and furnish music supplies as needed. Members of this committee are: the Worship and Music Council person, the organist/choir director, all the choir members and the Pastor. Any church member who is willing to serve on this committee is invited to participate. The Worship and Music Committee Chairperson distributes schedules of Worship Assistants each quarter, naming Ushers, Lectors and Communion Assistants each Sunday and each special service for the next three months. This has gone smoothly because those so-named, when unable to participate, see to it that another person will take his or her place. In the past few months, it has been a blessing to see that three of our young members are being trained to take part in the lighting of the candles and the receiving of the offering. Mr. Melvin Schultz has taken it on himself to teach Emily Work, Anthony Morales, and Joey Morales to take part in this service for our church. We look forward to seeing more children follow in their footsteps. A monthly report is given to the Council regarding attendance during the past month and comparing it to the past year at the same time. Also a discussion of visitors and how we can better greet them. This committee is composed of loyal, hard-working individuals who love the church and our Lord. |
